Web Designer and Developer

Job brief

You will combine the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities will include building rich media advertisements deliverables from the provided UI/UX design. You will work under the guidance of the Production Director and alongside a team of designers and developers.

You will take an active role defining how the execution looks as well as how it works.

Responsibilities

  • Build rich media advertising, HTML newsletters and small website campaigns
  • Ensure all tracking and reporting metrics are included correctly
  • Develop new user-facing features
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Optimise application for maximum speed and scalability
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies
  • Always stay consistent with clients brand guidelines
  • Get feedback from users and customers
  • Make suggestions for better solutions to problems
  • Comfort working with design teams and translating mockups into code
  • Invested in performance testing and website optimizations
  • We expect punctuality, respect deadlines and milestones and for you to work during established office hours

Requirements and skills

  • 1-2 years of experience
  • Proficient understanding of programmatic advertising would be beneficial.
  • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
  • Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms
  • Solid experience writing HTML, CSS (LESS and /or SASS) and responsive design principles
  • Good understanding of AWS is a bonus.
  • Good knowledge of React, Javascript, ¡Query, PHP, SQL
  • WordPress programming skills given the platform standards and best practices
  • Understanding in Google Studio, Google Campaign Manager and Google Ads would be beneficial but not essential
  • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
  • Basic knowledge of CMS system (open source) is a plus but not mandatory
  • Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on image / video
  • Familiarity with tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Google Web Designer and Figma are a major plus
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as GITHUB
  • Good understanding of SEO principles is beneficial
  • It will be a benefit to enjoy the challenge of producing great, lean code
  • Good communication skills: comfortable interacting with and working closely with your team
  • Willing to adapt and learn new skills
